Metallography

The method of investigation and control of metallic materials. This method uses optical microscopy and images analysis to study metal macrostructure and microstructure. To date, this is one of the most important methods of materials research.

"NIPIStroyTEK" Ltd. Metallographic Laboratory studies macro-and microstructure of metals, carries out research on the formation of the structure and its influence on the mechanical and other properties of the metal.

Metallographic studies:

- Determination of the amount of non-metallic inclusions (GOST 1778-70, ASTM E1245-03);

- Grain grading (GOST 5639-82, 21073-75);

- Determination of the depth of decarbonized layer (GOST 1763-68);

- Determination of Ferrite content (GOST 11878-66);

- Macroscopic analysis, including the analysis of welding joints fracture (GOST 10243-75, GOST 5640-82, RD 24.200.04-90, RD 03-495-02);

- Analysis of fracture by stereoscopic fractography (P 50-54-22-87).

Methods of hardness measurement:

- Brinell (ball-pressure, GOST 9012-59);

- Vickers (regular quadrangular shaped carbon  pyramid diamond  tip indentation, GOST 2999-75);

- Rockwell (diamond cone or steel ball tip indentation in the surface of the sample (the product), GOST 9013-59);

- The Super - Rockwell (diamond cone or steel ball tip indentation in the surface of the sample (the product), GOST 22975-78);

- Hardness (diamond tip indentation in the surface of the sample (the product), GOST 9450-76).
